About the Job

The Role:

The Senior Hydrogeologist is required to lead the management, analysis, and strategic planning of groundwater and surface water to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient mining operations. This role is critical for preventing pit flooding, managing slope stability, mitigating environmental impacts, and providing expert technical input for mine planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mine Dewatering and Water Management: Develop, implement, and optimize dewatering strategies and mine water management plans to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Technical Modeling and Analysis: Develop and maintain numerical and conceptual groundwater models (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW) to predict water inflows, assess slope depressurization needs, and evaluate environmental impacts.
  • Field Investigation and Data Collection: Design and manage drilling programs, piezometer installations, and aquifer testing (pump, packer, slug tests).
  • Monitoring and Compliance: Monitor groundwater levels and water quality, interpret seepage data, and ensure adherence to environmental regulations and permits.
  • Reporting and Technical Advice: Prepare detailed technical reports, memos, and budget estimates (e.g., for drilling, pumps) for management. Provide expert advice on water-related issues to geotechnical, planning, and operational teams.
  • Project Management and Mentoring: Manage complex projects, subcontractors, and budgets, while mentoring junior hydrogeologists and site staff.
